Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHERBERT NICHOLSON With deepest sorrow, the family announces the passing of our dear father, Herb Nicholson who passed away at his home on October 22, 2003 at the age of 88 years. Herb was predeceased by his wife Anne on August 30, 1992. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his two sons, Jim and Dave; and his wife Anita; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. Herb was born in Langford, MB on March 24, 1915 and he attended school in Franklin, MB. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and served time overseas with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons. In 1949 he became a carman for the C.N.R. in Kamsack, SK. He was then transferred to the Transcona shop in Winnipeg, retiring after 30 years of service. Herb was a member with the Royal Canadian Legion for 55 years. Herb enjoyed visiting many of his legion members and friends in various hospitals and nursing homes, he also found great pleasure working with the color party. He will be missed for his kindness and generosity and his special sense of humour. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, and a reception will follow at the Legion No. 4. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Poppy Fund, in care of St. James Branch No. 4, 1755 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0E6.
